National biodiversity HMG Nepal

The Ministry of Forests and Soil Conservation has formed a National Biodiversity Unit (NBU) in 1997 to facilitate and implement the CBD under the guidance of the National Biodiversity Steering Committee. NBU is currently housed at MFSC as one of its units. The specific objectives of the NBU are to act as a national focal point for guiding CBD implementation and monitoring; and to provide a forum for interactive/consultative meetings; and to prepare a status reports on national implementation of CBD.
A sixteen-members steering committee has also been constituted by the MFSC to provide guidance to the NBU. It is chaired by the Secretary of MFSC. The Co-ordinator of the NBU is the Member Secretary.
